Returning Home

Living in the United States, Hong Kong, and Returning Home

I wrote about my decision to leave the United States, my years in Hong Kong, and my return to Canada. The stream-of-consciousness style that shaped these columns reflected how life was experienced. Events overlapped, as emotions lagged behind facts. Understanding came late, if at all.

Readers and friends responded warmly to these essays. Some suggested turning them into an ebook. However, my story refused to resolve itself into a conclusion that could be packaged and sold. As I learned, migration and political changes always loop and contradict themselves.
